We are commanded to pray

Note that the following are commands, not suggestions or recommendations.

“Do not be anxious about anything,but in everything by prayer and supplication twith thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:6-7 ESV.

“Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:43-45 NIV
